(“Distill,” “we,”“us,” or “our”) including on our website available at https://distill.fyi/, on-device application, and our other online or offline offerings which link to, or are otherwise subject to, this Privacy Notice (collectively, the “Services”).
Summary: Welcome, here is our policy on privacy. This policy sets out how Distill collects, uses and discloses the personal information that we collect about you when you use the Services. Disclosure Regarding the Use of the Google API Services. If you choose to sign into your Distill account using your Google account, then Distill will obtain access to your Google calendar information via the Google API Services to provide you with certain functionalities of the Services (e.g., generating a profile about the person you will be meeting with). For the avoidance of doubt, Distill will not have access to Google emails through the Google Calendar API. Distill’s receipt, use and transfer to any other application of your Google calendar information received from the Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, as described in further detail in the "Limits on Use of Your Google Calendar Data" section below.

2. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
A. Personal Information You Provide to Us Directly
We may collect personal information that you provide to us.
Account Information. We may collect personal information in connection with the creation or administration of your account.This personal information may include, but is not limited to, your name, email address, phone number, and other information you store with your account.
Calendar and Email Data. When you connect your email account to our Services to benefit from certain features of the Services, we will access your calendar and email data (“Calendar and Email Data”). You have control over what Data you permit us to access. For example, Google Calendar permissions include access to your calendar, calendar events, calendar lists, and calendar settings. You can revoke our access to your sensitive data at any time. Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data; you may view our SOC2 report and other compliance reports in our trust center.
LinkedIn Profile Data. When you sign up with Distill, we ask you to allow us to access your LinkedIn profile. If you provide us with your permission, we will access and import only the information that you make publicly available in your LinkedIn profile (your “LinkedIn Profile Data”). Distill will not access any of your private LinkedIn messages or other non-public LinkedIn information.
Purchases. If you purchase our online subscription-based Services, we may collect personal information and details associated with your purchases, including credit card or other payment information. We will use that information solely for the purpose of fulfilling the purchase request. Any payments made via our Services are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not directly collect or store any payment card information entered through our Services, but we may receive information associated with your payment card information (e.g., your billing details).
Your Communications with Us. We may collect personal information, such as email address, LinkedIn profile, or other information you choose to provide when you request information about our Services, join our waitlist, register for newsletter, request customer or technical support, apply for a job or otherwise communicate with us.
Surveys. We may contact you to participate in surveys. If you decide to participate, we may collect personal information from you in connection with the survey.
Interactive Features. We and others who use our Services may collect personal information that you submit or make available through our interactive features (e.g., messaging features, commenting functionalities, forums, blogs, and social media pages). Any information you provide using the public sharing features of the Services will be considered “public.”
Conferences, Trade Shows, and Other Events. We may collect personal information from individuals when we attend or host conferences, trade shows, and other events.
Business Development and Strategic Partnerships. We may collect personal information from individuals and third parties to assess and pursue potential business opportunities.
Job Applications. If you apply for a job with us, we will collect any personal information you provide in connection with your application, such as your contact information and CV.
We collect personal information through multiple channels, including personal information that you provide to us and personal information from third-party sources (including information contained in LinkedIn profiles and publicly available personal information on the internet), as described below.

B. Personal Information Collected Automatically
We may collect personal information automatically when you use the Services.
Device Information. We may collect personal information about your device, such as your Internet protocol (IP) address, user settings, cookie identifiers, other unique identifiers, browser or device information, Internet service provider, and location information (including, as applicable, approximate location derived from IP address and precise geo-location information).
Usage Information. We may collect personal information about your use of the Services, such as the pages that you visit, items that you search for, the types of content you interact with, information about the links you click, the frequency and duration of your activities, and other information about how you use the Services.
Cookie Notice (and Other Technologies). We, as well as third parties, may use cookies, pixel tags, and other technologies (“Technologies”) to automatically collect personal information through your use of the Services.
Cookies. Cookies are small text files stored in device browsers.
Pixel Tags/Web Beacons. A pixel tag (also known as a web beacon) is a piece of code embedded in the Services that collects personal information about use of or engagement with the Services. The use of a pixel tag allows us to record, for example, that a user has visited, a particular web page or clicked on a particular advertisement. We may also include web beacons in e-mails to understand whether messages have been opened, acted on, or forwarded.

C. Personal Information Collected from Third Parties
Distill Profiles. We may collect information, including personal information, about you from third parties. By using various Technologies, including artificial intelligence tools (“AI”), we gather publicly available information on the internet and combine multiple datasources to create research profiles on people (the “Distill Profiles”) In addition, other users of the Services may upload or otherwise supplement Distill Profiles. Distill Profiles may include an individual’s name, work history, and education history as well as links to articles by, about, or quoting an individual, and links to an individual’s social media profiles.
Summary: We obtain personal information about you from publicly available third-party sources to generate your Distill Profile. Other users of our Services may also add information to your Distill Profile.
3. HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION
We use personal information to provide the Services, for administrative purposes, and to provide you with promotional materials regarding the Services, as described below.
A. Provide the Services
We use personal information to fulfill our contract with you and provide the Services, such as:
Managing your information;
Providing access to certain areas, functionalities, and features of the Services;
Answering requests for support;
Communicating with you;
Sharing personal information with third parties as needed to provide the Services;
Verify, cleanse, update, and maintain information in Distill Profiles;
Processing your financial information and other payment methods for products and Services purchased;
Processing applications if you apply for a job we post on our Services; and
Allowing you to register for events.
Limits on Use of Your Calendar and Email Data
To the extent that any Calendar and Email Data to which you provide us access to constitutes personal information under this Privacy Notice, it will be subject to the provisions of this Privacy Notice. Notwithstanding anything else in this Privacy Notice, if you provide us with access to Calendar and Email Data, our use of that data will be subject to these additional restrictions:
The Calendar and Email Data will be used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in our user interface.
The Calendar and Email Data will be transferred to others only as necessary to provide and improve these user-facing features, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
The Calendar and Email Data will not be used for serving advertisements.
This Calendar and Email Data will only be retained as long as it is necessary to provide the above services.
The Calendar and Email Data will be read by humans only in the following cases:
As part of the user interface, as controlled by your Distill privacy settings;
If we obtain your affirmative agreement to view specific data from your account;
If it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating a bug or abuse);
If it is necessary to comply with applicable law; and
As necessary for internal operations, provided that the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
Calendar and Email Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data. For more information, see our trust center.
B. Administrative Purposes
We use personal information for various administrative purposes, such as:
Promoting the Services;
Research and development (including marketing research)
Network and information security;
Fraud prevention;
Detecting security incidents, protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity, and prosecuting those responsible for that activity;
Carrying out analytics;
Measuring interest and engagement in the Services;
Improving, upgrading, or enhancing the Services;
Developing new products and services;
Ensuring internal quality control and safety;
Authenticating and verifying individual identities, including requests to exercise your rights under this Privacy Notice;
Debugging to identify and repair errors with the Services;
Auditing relating to interactions, transactions, and other compliance activities;
Enforcing our agreements and policies; and
Carrying out activities that are required to comply with our legal obligations.
C. Promoting the Services to You
We may use personal information to tailor and provide you with content about our Services that is specific to your interests and interactions with the Services. D. With Your Consent or Direction
We may use personal information for other purposes that are clearly disclosed to you at the time you provide personal information, with your consent, or as otherwise directed by you.
E. Automated Decision Making
We may engage in automated decision making, including profiling. Distill’s processing of your personal information will not result in a decision based solely on automated processing that has a legal or other similarly significant effect on you unless such a decision is necessary as part of a contract we have with you, we have your consent, or we are permitted by law to engage in such automated decision making. F. Aggregated and De-Identified Data
We may create aggregated, de-identified or anonymized data from the Personal Data we collect, including by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to a particular user. We may use such aggregated, de-identified or anonymized data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes, including to analyze, build and improve the Services and promote our business, provided that we will not share such data in a manner that could identify you.

4. HOW WE DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION
We disclose personal information to third parties as described below, to provide the Services, to protect us or others, or in the event of a major business transaction such as a merger, sale, or asset transfer.
A. Disclosures to Provide the Services
We may disclose any of the personal information we collect to the categories of third parties described below.
Service Providers. We may disclose personal information to third-party service providers that assist us with the provision of theServices. This may include, but is not limited to, service providers that provide us with hosting, customer service, analytics, promotional services, IT support, and related services.
Some of the service providers we may use include:
Disclosure Regarding the Use of OpenAI. Part of the Services that we provide use OpenAI’s application programming interface. We will disclose information contained in Distill Profiles (the “Profiles Data”) to OpenAI to provide our Services, including Distill’s meeting preparation features. OpenAI may only use Profiles Data to provide the contracted services to Distill in accordance with the Terms of Use we have entered into with OpenAI. OpenAI may not use the Profiles Data to develop or improve OpenAI’s services.
PostHog Session Replay Analytics. We use PostHog’s session replay analytics services. This allows us to record and replay an individual’s interaction with the Services. For more information about how PostHog uses your personal information, please visit PostHog’s Privacy Policy. To learn more about how to opt-out of PostHog’s use of your information, please visit the “Contacting PostHog About Your Privacy” section of PostHog’s Privacy Policy.
Other Users You Share or Interact With. The Services may allow Distill users to share personal information or interact with other users of the Services. For example, another Distill user may see your contact information or tag other Distill users in their shared work experience.
Third-Party Services You Share or Interact With. The Services may link to or allow you to interface, interact, share information with, direct us to share information with, access and/or use third-party websites, applications, services, products, and technology (each a “Third-Party Service”).Any personal information shared with a Third-Party Service will be subject to the Third- Party Service’s privacy policy. We are not responsible for the processing of personal information by Third-Party Services.
Business Partners. We may share your personal information with business partners to provide you with a product or service you have requested. We may also share your personal information with business partners with whom we jointly offer products or services if you indicate your interest in such jointly-offered products and services. Once your personal information is shared with our business partner, it will also be subject to our business partner’s privacy policy. We are not responsible for the processing of personal information by our business partners.

B. Disclosures to Protect Us or Others
